Dr. Bauer is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation. In 2008, Dr. Bauer completed the Roth/Williams Center for Advanced Education in Orthodontics course in functional occlusion. Since that time he has also become a member of the Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontics as well as the Roth Study Club International. Dr. Bauer is also a Diplomate, American Board of Orthodontists.

Dr. Matthew Bauer is a 2003 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He then went on to earn his Masters in Orthodontics at St. Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education.
Dr. Bauer has since returned to join the orthodontic faculty at St. Louis University.
